Tour with Auburn City Councilmember Alice Dowdin-Calvillo

This past week, we were thrilled to welcome a member of our Auburn City Council, Alice Dowdin-Calvillo, to our Auburn office for a tour with our CEO, Aaron Klein. They spent time discussing how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting companies and employees here in California.

Nitrogen is an essential business under federal critical infrastructure standards, but the company was fortunate enough to have architected all of its IT in the cloud. As such, when we closed our offices on March 17, we had no interruption in our core business operations.

We reopened our offices on a voluntary basis on May 18, and approximately 25% of Auburn-based employees are back in the office, with 75% remaining on work from home. Flexible work options will remain in place for all Nitros as we continue to navigate these uncertain times.

We discussed many of the precautions our Admin Ops team took to prepare our offices for Nitros to return, from hand sanitizer, to signage, to a stock of masks available at the front desk. As always, the safety of our employees is our top priority.

We made sure to visit the marble run that begins from the second floor and extends down into our lobby area. Councilmember Dowdin-Calvillo’s marble “rang the chime” as it reached the first floor!

We talked about the challenges many of our Nitros are facing when it comes to disruptions in school or child care for their kids. We are grateful to stand behind those teammates and be able to give them flexibility and support in these difficult times.

The City of Auburn has long been a hospitable and welcoming partner for job creation and economic growth, and we are grateful to Councilmember Dowdin-Calvillo for her work on behalf of our city and its people. We are thrilled to be a part of the Auburn community!
